An Act of the Alabama Legislature signed into Law on May 22,2009, gives the APSC jurisdiction over companies that operate certain decentralized wastewater systems in Alabama. The law charges the Commission with issuing Certificates of Financial Viability to these companies in order for them to legally operate in the state. The Commission also approves the rates they charge for wastewater service, and establishes Rules and Regulations for their operations. These companies are legally known as Wastewater Management Entities. Posted here is the current list of PSC-Certified Wastewater Management Entities and the systems they are authorized to manage.
